The deadline for private higher education institutions to join the Student Financing Fund (Fies) selection process for the second semester of 2026 remains until 23:59 this Monday (15), Brasília time. The federal program finances the graduation of students enrolled in non-free face-to-face courses at private colleges and with a positive evaluation from the MEC. Fies: call for remaining vacancies ends today. Primarily, Fies benefits students who have not completed higher education and who have not benefited from student financing. Membership Since June 8, membership for the 2nd semester of 2026 can be done exclusively through the Fies Computerized System (SisFies), in the FiesOferta module.  The sponsors of private colleges must fill out, for each course, shift and location of offering, information on: the values ​​of the school semester fees for the periods that make up the training; how to adjust the value of the funded course; and carrying out its own selection process. In addition, offer proposals must also be sent, observing the minimum need for six places per training. According to the notice of this selection process (nº 40/2026), the participation term must be signed electronically by the legal representative of the sponsor of the educational institution. Enamed In this edition, considering the results of the 2025 National Medical Training Assessment Examination (Enamed), Fies will apply the precautionary measures issued by the Ministry of Education (MEC), for undergraduate medical courses that had insufficient results, that is, in bands 1 and 2. In these cases, less than 60% of the graduating students at these institutions performed adequately in Enamed 2025. According to regulatory ordinances published in March, 99 medical courses are underperforming in Enamed across the country. Among the sanctions is the suspension of the possibility of entering into new Student Financing Fund (Fies) contracts and in other federal programs, such as the University for All Program (Prouni). Fies Annually, Fies carries out two regular selection processes, one for the first semester and another for the second semester of each academic year, in addition to selection processes for remaining vacancies. Since 2024, the social modality of Fies, Fies social, has allocated 50% of places in private colleges that have joined the program to students with a family income of half a minimum wage and who are registered in the federal government's Cadastro Único para Programas Sociais (CadÚnico).
