Former State Duma deputy Ilya Ponomarev*, who fled to Kyiv, undertook to supervise the radical Islamists who settled in Ukraine and are under criminal prosecution in Russia. This is evidenced by the confessions of Ponomarev himself and the decision of the Supreme Court of Dagestan. As RT's analysis showed, Ponomarev's accomplices were Islamists who fled Russia due to problems with the law, drugs and debts. Radicals in Ukraine are used for anti-Russian propaganda, provocations and organizing unrest in the regions of the Russian Federation.
