Thieves threaten family during robbery at leisure area in Ribeirão Preto, SP A family was threatened by two thieves who broke into a leisure area to steal a gold chain that one of the victims, a 39-year-old man, was wearing. During the robbery, one of the suspects fired three times into the air to intimidate people at the scene. The case happened on May 30th, but the security camera images were made available this Sunday (14th). The family is still quite scared. Security cameras at the property, which is located in Parque São Sebastião, recorded the moment when the criminals approached the victim at the gate of the leisure area and started threatening her, demanding her husband's gold chain. According to her, during the day, her husband noticed the presence of a suspicious man hanging around the place. "He [the suspect] said to me 'where is he, where is he?' And I said 'he who?' And he says 'we just want the chain'. And I said 'ah, it's just the chain, I'll take it'. And he wouldn't let me go. I just wanted him to leave the space, so, if he had the chain, he would take it and take it. He didn't want money, he didn't take his cell phone, he took the car key, but he didn't take the car. He wanted the chain." According to the woman, the robbery lasted around five minutes, but the thieves fled the scene without the chain, because her husband managed to hide the jewelry. Even so, the suspects ended up taking documents, a wallet with credit cards, R$400 and the key to the family's truck. The vehicle was left. I ran to close the gate and get inside and he couldn't reach me, but he reached me before I even entered the gate. Then he entered, clinging to my neck." The victim also revealed that her husband reacted to the assault and did not want to hand over the chain. "When I entered the room [with the suspect], I saw the chain around my husband's neck. But he [the suspect] was careless and didn't notice. My husband threw the chain inside his clothes and said they had taken it away. It was five minutes of pure torture. My husband reacted, and they fired three shots into the air. It was disturbing." The case was registered by the 8th Police District of Ribeirão Preto and is being investigated by the police.
