This Sunday's game (14) presented one of the biggest disparities in positions in the International Football Federation (Fifa) ranking for this World Cup. The Germans occupy tenth place, while the Caribbeans are in 82nd place. The difference of 72 positions is only inferior to the clashes between Belgium and New Zealand (76) and Brazil and Haiti (77).
In addition to marking Curaçao's debut, the duel placed Dick Advocaat in the history of football's biggest event. The 78-year-old Dutchman, who leads the Caribbean national team, became the oldest coach to work at a World Cup. On the German side, there was precisely the youngest coach in this edition: Julian Nagelsmann, aged 38

Goal in the fifth minute
The pressure exerted by the Germans from the first kick turned into a goal after just five minutes. After connecting with Florian Wirtz at the edge of the area on the right, midfielder Nmecha shot across the goalkeeper's corner. Eloy Room didn't even manage to react to defend.
Those who expected to see Curaçao weakened after leaving behind so soon were surprised. The Caribbean team managed to contain the German offensive and go into the game at speed. At 20 minutes, the reward came. In a counterattack from the left, midfielder Livano Comenencia caught the remains of a blocked shot from striker Juergen Locadia in the area and sent it home. The ball even deflected off full-back Joshua Kimmich and went out of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer's reach. The first goal in the country's history in a World Cup.
The hydration break, five minutes after the equalizer, helped Germany regain balance and control over the duel. Curaçao resisted until the 37th minute, when full-back Nathaniel Brown took a corner from the right and defender Nico Schlotterbeck, with a header, put the Europeans back in front. In stoppage time, Nmecha was brought down in the area by defender Riechedly Bazoer. Striker Kai Havertz hit and scored the third.

Four more in the second half
The technical discrepancy between the teams remained evident after the break. In the first minute of the second half, Kimmich launched Jamal Musiala, into the area, behind the defense on the right. The midfielder shot low and crossed and scored the Germans' fourth.
At 22, Comenencia cut Wirtz's pass at the edge of the area, but the ball fell to Deniz Undav. The striker, who had just replaced Musiala, arranged for Brown to hit first and score the fifth. Ten minutes later, following a good exchange of passes, Havertz crossed from the left, Kimmich dominated and rolled the ball for Undav to send into the net.
There was still time for, in the 42nd minute, Havertz to be launched by Undav, surpass two Curaçao markers in speed and touch Room's exit. Germany 7 to 1.
