Drought advances: low rainfall worries experts and producers The Federal Government recognized the emergency situation due to the drought in four municipalities in Piauí. The measure was published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU) by the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development (MIDR). Among the actions that can be financed are the distribution of basic food baskets, supply of water, provision of meals and purchase of cleaning kits, personal hygiene and dormitory items. To access the resources, city halls must make the request through the Integrated Disaster Information System (S2iD). After submission, the request is analyzed by National Civil Defense technicians, who evaluate the work plan, goals and values. If approved, the government publishes a new ordinance in the Official Gazette of the Union authorizing the transfer.
