Registration is open from Monday (15). Henrique Teixeira/PMS A guided tour of the Paquetá Cemetery, in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, reveals stories and curiosities of characters from the city. The 6th edition of 'Passeio Luz e Sombra' will take place next Saturday (20), at 4pm, and has 200 places available. According to Santos City Hall, to participate, it is necessary to donate 1 kg of non-perishable food, destined for the Social Solidarity Fund. Registration can be made from Monday (15th), through the Sympla platform. There will be no registration fee. The visit will be led by the coordinator of Santos cemeteries Elen Miranda, by the head of the Paquetá Necropolis Carlos Eduardo da Cruz Santos, by History professor José Marques, and by historian Francisco Carballa. National personalities are buried there, such as former governor Mário Covas and his grandson Bruno Covas (former mayor of São Paulo), as well as the painter Benedicto Calixto and the poets Vicente de Carvalho and Martins Fontes, among others. The space is considered an important cultural heritage and also draws attention for its architecture. The site is home to around 26 listed graves, ten Catholic brotherhoods and several tombs that preserve important memories.
