The elderly man who had been found tied to a fence after being the target of a robbery in a floodplain community, in the municipality of Óbidos, in western Pará, did not resist and died. Information about the death was officially confirmed by the Military (PM) and Civil (PC) police this Sunday (14).
With the confirmation of the victim's death, the line of investigation of the case was changed by the Civil Police, which now treats the crime as a robbery (robbery followed by death).
The elderly man was located by residents of the region after being captured by criminals in the rural area of the municipality. According to initial reports, the robbers invaded the place, stole the victim's belongings and, before fleeing, tied her tightly against the posts of a fence in a floodplain area.
There is still no detailed information on the exact causes of death, whether due to physical attacks suffered during the robbery or the time in which the elderly man remained exposed and tied up at the scene.
Civil and Military police teams carry out raids in the Óbidos riverside region to try to identify and locate the perpetrators of the crime. Until the last update of this report, no suspect had been arrested.
