Man dies after being run over by car in Dutra in Taubaté; police investigate suspected drunk driver

A 64-year-old man died after being run over, on Saturday night (13), on the Presidente Dutra Highway, in Taubaté (SP).
According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the accident happened at km 110 of the highway. The victim was walking along the shoulder of the road when he was hit by a car. Rescue teams were called, but the man died at the scene.
According to the SSP, the driver of the car, a 53-year-old man, remained at the scene and helped the victim. The Civil Police reported that there is evidence that he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Forensics were called and the case was registered as manslaughter while driving a vehicle at the Taubaté Sectional Police Station. The circumstances of the collision will be investigated.

According to the RioSP concessionaire, responsible for managing the road, the call for the incident was recorded at 11:55 pm. The concessionaire's teams worked on servicing and signaling the stretch.
The accident caused the closure of the left lane towards Rio de Janeiro. The track was fully reopened at 2:52 am this Sunday (14).
