Among the main products exported by Minas are iron ore, coffee, soybeans and gold. Coffee, one of the main drivers of the economy in the south of Minas Gerais, accounted for 21.3% of Minas Gerais exports in April, second only to iron ore.
Between January and April, Minas Gerais exported US$14.2 billion and maintained third place among the Brazilian states that sold the most to the international market.
China remains the main destination for Minas Gerais exports, accounting for 42.7% of sales. The United States, Switzerland, Canada and Italy appear next among the biggest buyers.

South of Minas also leads imports
Among the 224 municipalities in Minas Gerais that registered imports in April, three cities in the south of Minas appear among the main buyers of products from abroad.
The ranking is led by Extrema, responsible for 16.7% of all imports carried out by Minas Gerais in the period. Pouso Alegre appears in third place, with 9.6%, while Varginha occupies fifth place, with a share of 5.8%.

In total, Minas Gerais generated US$20.4 billion in foreign trade in the first four months of the year, including exports and imports. The result represents growth of 9.8% compared to the same period in 2025.
