Since the start of the full-scale war between Russia and Ukraine, at least 352 thousand Russian military personnel have died, and one can only guess how many were injured. You may have read that some of them are “shell-shocked.” In the Russian-speaking segment of social networks and in the media, this very term is often used in relation to any war veterans, if we are talking about some kind of brain damage. “Shell shock” is also regularly mentioned in regulations governing assistance to military personnel who suffered during hostilities. However, what exactly this word means is not really defined anywhere.
