The body of a 28-year-old man was found decapitated on the banks of the Garças River, close to the Ring Road, in Barra do Garças, this Friday (12). The victim was identified as Richard Rodrigo dos Santos.
According to the Military Police, the agents were called after a report about the presence of a body in the river. During searches carried out on the banks of the Garças River, teams located the corpse partially in the water, on the border between Barra do Garças and Pontal do Araguaia.
The site was isolated for the work of the Civil Police and Official Forensic Science and Technical Identification (Politec). Due to difficult access, the Fire Department was called to remove the body with the help of a boat.

Initially, the case was registered as a finding of a dead body. However, after removing the body and preliminary forensic analysis, the incident began to be investigated as a homicide. According to the Civil Police, in addition to the decapitation, several puncture wounds compatible with knife wounds were identified.
The victim's identification was made by family members at the Legal Medical Institute (IML), through tattoos and the clothes she wore. Richard had been missing for about two days.
