What is it and how does it work
In rope jumping, the participant jumps from high places, such as bridges, viaducts and buildings. The person is attached to a system of ropes that are designed to stop the fall in a controlled manner.
This practice is often compared to bungee jumping, but there are differences. In bungee jumping, an elastic rope is used, which makes the person bounce (go up and down) several times after the jump.
In rope jumping, the system is similar to climbing. When the fall is stopped, the practitioner makes a pendulum movement, swinging from side to side. Therefore, the sport is also known as the "human pendulum".
Before the jump, the team must check that everything is connected. Professional companies adopt double checking: more than one instructor confirms that the equipment is secured before authorizing the fall.

Death in Limeira
According to the Military Police (PM), witnesses reported that the team responsible for the activity on the Skeletor Bridge forgot to attach the rope to the victim. Six people were arrested and three remained in prison for the accident, which is being investigated by the Civil Police.
A video circulating on social media recorded the moment witnesses realized that the young woman had been thrown without safety equipment (watch above).
In the images, the victim was carried by three employees to the jumping structure, located in the Ponte do Esqueleto region. After being propelled from the platform, voices were heard in a tone of despair. “The rope,” one person shouted. Then another voice repeated: "Guys, the rope."
Teams from the Fire Department and the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) were called, but the death of Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas was confirmed at the scene.
Limeira City Hall informed that it will sue the federal government for failure to act. The municipality claims that the bridge belongs to the Union and that it had already requested measures to control access and reinforce security in the area.
The men in the images appear wearing t-shirts from the companies Entre Cordas and Ih Voei. g1 contacted them, but did not receive a response until the last update of this report.
