Woman dies while jumping rope jump in Limeira; company would have forgotten rope
The three men arrested after the death of Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, 21, during a rope jumping, were unable to explain how the victim was launched without being connected to ropes. The information comes from on-duty delegate Andréa Dantas, who registered the case in Limeira (SP).
According to the delegate, the two men responsible for preparing the young woman for the jump were unable to say what happened before the fall. "They can't remember what the error was there, who should have placed the rope, if there was no supervision. They can't remember", she stated.

Understand what rope jumping is
According to the Civil Police, the rope that was supposed to protect the victim remained tangled up on the floor of the platform.
Lawyer Rafael Gomes dos Santos, who represents the three prisoners, stated that rope jumping is not regulated, but it is not prohibited either. According to him, similar events have already been held at Ponte do Esqueleto without intervention from public authorities.
The defender also reported that this Saturday's activity brought together around 100 participants and classified the case as a "sad fatality", highlighting that those involved have been practicing the sport for years with no history of accidents.
Death recorded on video
A video circulating on social media recorded the moment when witnesses realized that the young woman was without her safety equipment (watch above).
In the images, the victim was carried by three employees to the jumping structure, located in the Ponte do Esqueleto region.
After being propelled from the platform, voices were heard in a tone of despair. “The rope,” one person shouted. Then another voice repeated: "Guys, the rope."
The men in the images appear wearing t-shirts from the companies Entre Cordas and Ih Voei. g1 contacted them, but did not receive a response until the last update of this report.

'It had never happened'
The prisoners told the police that they have been working with heels for a long time and that they have never experienced a similar situation.
"They are even bewildered by the situation because they have been practicing this for a long time and nothing like this has ever happened before," said Dantas.
The delegate informed that this was not the first jump of the day. According to testimonies, other people jumped without any problems before the accident.
Third suspect
The third man arrested claimed he was not responsible for installing the rope. He said he was only called to help execute the jump. Despite this, the Civil Police understood that he was also able to notice the lack of equipment.
"The third individual would have been called there to help. However, the rope is very visible, the rope is thick, it is even on the ground, so you could have seen that it was not in place", explained the delegate.
Possible fraud
The three men who appear in the video pushing the victim were arrested in the act for homicide with possible intent. This occurs when the police understand that the person took the risk of killing, even without having the direct intention.
For the delegate, the lack of checking the equipment was decisive for Maria Eduarda's death. "They took the risk to produce the result," he concluded.
The case remains under investigation. The Civil Police will listen to other witnesses and await the expert reports.
