Sesc Maranhão is holding, from June 18th to 21st, another edition of Balaio de Sotaques, a traditional São João event in the state, with free programming in different parts of the São Luís Metropolitan Region.
The program will be held at Sesc Deodoro, Sesc Olho d’Água and Sesc Comunidade, in the municipality of Raposa, with free entry and open to the public. The event brings together various manifestations of Maranhão popular culture, such as bumba meu boi, drum de creola, cacuriá and forró pé-de-serra.

At Sesc Deodoro, presentations include traditional groups such as Boi de Axixá, Boi de Morros, Companhia Barrica and Boi de Guimarães, as well as cultural activities and presentations aimed at children.
At Sesc Olho d’Água, programming takes place in spaces such as the unit’s garden and the gym. Among the attractions are Companhia Chegança, Boi da Maioba, Boi de Nina Rodrigues, Cacuriá Balaio de Rosas and dance and forró performances.
The closing of the event takes place at Sesc Comunidade, in Raposa, on June 21st, with performances by June square dances and bumba meu boi groups.
One of the new features of this year's edition is the inclusion of the broadcast of World Cup games. On June 19th, at Sesc Olho d’Água, the public will be able to watch the match between Brazil and Haiti on a big screen.
Balaio de Sotaques 2026 will also have programs in the interior of Maranhão, with editions in the municipalities of Itapecuru-Mirim and Caxias.
