The General Inspectorate of the Military Police of Rondônia (PMRO) is investigating 10 military police officers suspected of irregularly using the Health Treatment License (LTS). According to the investigation, they would have worked, studied full-time and carried out other activities while they were away due to health problems.
According to the Internal Affairs Department, there are indications that some police officers were using their sick leave period to carry out activities that do not match the health problem reported to the corporation.
The investigations, carried out with the support of other states and partner bodies, point to cases of police officers who worked as dentists, doctors and app drivers, as well as people who studied full time. There are also records of activities in other states and even outside the country.

The case is part of Operation Legal License, which investigates possible fraud in the use of medical license in the Military Police.
According to the PMRO, depending on each case, suspects may be liable for crimes such as embezzlement, fraudulent misrepresentation and use of false documents.
Among the situations investigated is that of a police officer who lived and worked in another state while on medical leave. Another was identified taking a physical test for a competition for another security force, even though he claimed he was incapable of performing his role in the Rondônia PM.

There is also the case of a police officer who was studying medicine full-time, with an internship, in a neighboring country, during his leave. Another soldier was identified working in a family company and as an app driver, despite stating that he was unable to carry out administrative activities in the corporation.
According to the Internal Affairs Department, all cases are investigated with the guarantee of the right to defense. Police officers respond to Military Police Inquiries (IPMs) and, if irregularities are proven, they may respond in criminal, administrative and disciplinary areas.
In addition to the 10 ongoing investigations, the Internal Affairs Department reported that it has already established five Disciplinary Councils and a Justification Council, procedures that could result in the expulsion of police officers from the corporation.
The Internal Affairs Department states that Operation Legal License does not intend to impede the police officer's right to take leave to take care of their health. The objective, according to the institution, is to ensure that the license is used correctly, avoiding harm to the service, overload for other police officers and damage to the image of the Military Police.
Health Treatment Leave is a right for police officers who need to temporarily take time off from work to undergo medical treatment, recover from an illness or follow medical advice. During this period, the police officer continues to receive a salary, but must only use the leave to take care of his or her own health.
