An Indian military transport plane crashed this Saturday (13) at an Air Force base in the northeast of the country and left five people dead, the Army said in a statement. "The Indian Air Force deeply regrets the death of five soldiers in the plane crash in Jorhat," says the agency, which does not reveal the identities of the victims. "An investigation has been ordered to determine the causes of the accident." The Indian press published images of the crash site that show several pieces of the aircraft. In 2019, another Antonov AN-32 [aircraft model] that took off from the Jorhat base crashed near the border with China, an accident that caused 13 deaths. The Indian Air Force has almost 100 examples of the old Russian-made twin-engine model, which are still in service.
