Dogs and cats on university campus become World Cup stickers to raise student awareness Dogs and cats that live on the Parnaíba campus of the Federal University of Delta do Parnaíba (UFDPar), on the coast of Piauí, became “players” in stickers in a 2026 World Cup album in a publication on the institution's social networks (see photos at the end of the report). In the publication, the university shared images of the animals that are part of students' daily lives, with a background inspired by the competition. According to UFDPar, the initiative sought to reinforce the importance of care and respect for animals. ✅ Follow the g1 Piauí channel on WhatsApp "Our students have an emotional bond with these little animals," said the university. One of the animals in the posts is Panelada, a dog considered a symbol of the campus. He recently died and was honored with graffiti. Among the cats are Univerisgata, Gatinha da Hypercópias, Veterano do Bloco 7, Universigato, Veterano do Bloco 2 and Tigrinho da UF. The names were given by the students. The post also warns of cases of animal abandonment on campus. "Some are left by the community, including pregnant kittens. Others choose the university, as they find a safe place here", explained UFDPar. The university also advised precautions, such as reporting cases of injured cats or dogs and driving carefully on campus roads. Tips were also highlighted, such as offering clean water, avoiding mixing leftover food with food and not feeding the animals in the University Restaurant. "There are always jokes about nicknames, such as the idea that the oldest cats are retired students or that they stay longer than the course foresees", he joked.
