The Central Government has appointed Lieutenant General Dheeraj Seth as the next Chief of the Indian Army (Chief of Army Staff). Seth is currently serving as Vice Chief of Army Staff. He will replace the current Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi. The tenure of General Upendra Dwivedi is till June 2026. He took over as Army Chief on 30 June 2024. The tenure of the Army Chief is for 3 years or till the age of 62 years (whichever is earlier). Nearly 40 years of military experience, led many important commands. Dheeraj Seth, who received commission in the Armored Corps in December 1986, has nearly 40 years of military experience. He has commanded in many sensitive areas including the desert, Jammu and Kashmir and the Western Front. Dheeraj Seth has also been GOC-in-C of South-Western Command and Southern Command. He is among the select officers to lead two operational commands on the Western Front. He has also worked in many important positions related to United Nations Mission (Angola), Army Headquarters and Capacity Development. Topper in Junior Command Course, won many honors. He is an alumnus of National Defense Academy (NDA) Khadakwasla, Indian Military Academy (IMA), DSSC Wellington and National Defense College. He has secured first rank in Junior Command Course and Best All Round Student Officer Medal in DSSC. He has been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), Uttam Yudh Seva Medal (UYSM) and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) for his distinguished services. This news is being updated continuously…
