Chahana Takiou, director of the newspaper 22 Septembre, and Abdrahamane Keita, director of Le Témoin, were imprisoned on Monday June 8 and Tuesday June 9, respectively. The first had criticized, precisely, the non-respect of press rights by the Malian justice system. The second deplored that Kidal is currently administered by the Jnim jihadists, linked to al-Qaeda, who have effectively controlled the city since April 25 with their independence allies from the FLA. The profession is mobilizing for their release but, for the moment, dialogue is the priority.
