The federal government announced this Friday afternoon (12) the proposals selected for the construction of 85 thousand new properties under the Minha Casa Minha Vida (MCMV) program in the Rural and Entities (urban housing) modalities. Fifty thousand properties will be rural and 35 thousand will serve those who live in urban areas. The number of homes is 66% above the initial forecast. The residences will be financed by the Social Development Fund (FDS). The total value of the investment is R$10 billion. The MCMV Entidades modality serves families with a total income of up to R$3,200 (gross value). Access to the benefit is through residents' associations, housing cooperatives and unions that submit proposals for the construction of houses and apartments to Caixa Econômica Federal. The program – which also serves traditional communities, such as indigenous people and quilombolas – allows farmers to build houses on land where they live. The president of the National Confederation of Rural Workers and Family Farmers (Contag), Vânia Marques, highlights that the Rural modality of the MCMV is extremely impactful. According to the Contag representative, the lack of electricity, paved roads and more accessible public policies is still common in these regions.
