The Civil Police are investigating a scheme to sell counterfeit pesticides in the south of Minas and found a clandestine laboratory used to store and bottle the products on a farm in Passos (MG). Three men were arrested in the act, and two remain in prison. 📲 Follow the g1 Sul de Minas page on Instagram According to police, the suspects were located after an anonymous tip, near a gas station in the city. They offered gallons of pesticides for around R$1,000, while the market value of the original products is around R$3,000. During the approach, police found gallons in the suspects' car. In searches of the site linked to the group, agents discovered the clandestine laboratory, as well as ant poison, rodenticide, and counterfeit labels and stickers. Two of those investigated are father and son. One of the detainees was released, while the other two remain in prison. According to delegate Matheus Ponsancini, the suspects must initially respond for crimes against public health and the environment, based on the new Pesticides Law (Law 14,785). “They were selling this type of material, the act was very clear with these elements”, he stated. The delegate highlighted that the seized products will undergo forensic examination in Belo Horizonte, responsible for identifying the substance present in the gallons. “This type of expertise is carried out in the capital, in Belo Horizonte, and as soon as it is completed, these reports are sent to us for inclusion in the files”, he explained. The police do not rule out opening new investigations. “There are other elements of investigation that will be carried out throughout the week [...] to continue and perhaps initiate another police investigation”, said the delegate.
