INMET issues 'storm' warning for 87 cities in Eastern MG INMET The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued, this Friday morning (12), an orange “storm” alert for 87 cities in the eastern region of Minas Gerais, including the regions of Governador Valadares, Ipatinga and Manhuaçu. The warning, classified as “Danger”, indicates a forecast of rain between 30 and 60 mm per hour or 50 to 100 mm per day, with intense winds (60 to 100km/h), risk of electricity cuts, falling tree branches, flooding, electrical discharges and hail. 📲 Click here to follow the g1 Vales channel on WhatsApp The alert came into effect at 9:30 am this Friday (12) and continues until 11:59 pm this Saturday (13). 🟠 Danger: the orange level is the second highest on the scale and indicates intense weather conditions, with the potential to cause significant damage. In the previous alert, at yellow level, Inmet predicts more moderate rains and winds of up to 60 km/h. Now on g1 The institute recommends that the population avoid leaving their homes during the storm, do not go into flooded areas, and, in cases of gusts of wind, avoid seeking shelter under trees, as there is a risk of falling and electrical shocks. Inmet also recommends that the population does not park vehicles near transmission towers and advertising signs.
