In addition to the sentences of imprisonment and detention, the magistrate has now been sentenced to loss of office, which leads to the revocation of his retirement.
Abad was reported by the Public Ministry (MPES) for sexually harassing women who worked at the Centro Integrado de Atendimento Socioeducativo da Grande Vitória (Ciase).
Although he was head of the 2nd Children and Youth Court of Linhares, the judge also worked there.

What the judge's defense says
Lawyer Beatriz Aoun, who defends the retired magistrate, respects the court's decision, but will appeal, as there are several factual and legal aspects that require reanalysis.
Part of the charges have already been dismissed. The defense will work to ensure that the others are the same.

Remember the case
Judge Carlos Madeira Abad, from the Children and Youth Court in Linhares, in the North of Espírito Santo, was investigated for having sexually harassed interns and became a defendant in a criminal action, in June 2023.
The judge had already been removed from office in April of that year after a unanimous vote by judges and was facing an administrative disciplinary process at the Court of Justice.
The unanimous decision to remove the magistrate from office was given by the Court of Justice of Espírito Santo (TJES) after receiving the complaint presented by the Public Ministry (MPES).
The judge was removed from office in 2022 on medical leave. TJES decided to open the PAD on April 20, 2023. Therefore, his request was before the opening of the PAD. On March 1, 2023, the request for leave for health reasons was extended.
But the judges ordered that the judge remain away from office until the final judgment of the administrative disciplinary procedure, even if he is released from medical leave.
Despite being removed, the law guarantees that the judge continues to receive a salary.
