Women meet at a club for 'divas' and celebrate Valentine's Day for the first time Created to function as a safe place for women and people from the LGBTQIAPN+ community by promoting weekly meetings in Sorocaba (SP), Xequi Club transformed June 12th for a couple from the city. The date, which previously was just an ordinary day, began to portray a celebration of love between Luane de Almeida Domingues and Glaucia Ferreira. Members of the club, they met at a carnival event promoted by the collective, started attending the same meetings and started a relationship. The two started following each other on social media and saw each other in person for the first time at the Xequi carnival block. (At Glaucia's request, g1 will not use her images in the report). "I believe that Glaucia also joined [the group] through the TikTok video. We started following each other on Instagram a while before we met in person and, then, we actually met at Xequi's carnival event", he recalls. "That day, we ended up staying. After that, we saw each other for another two days during carnival and, since then, we've been seeing each other on the weekends", recalls Luane. Luane points out that the group's main impact is in creating bonds and encouraging social coexistence. "I always speak very highly of Xequi, because it's a very welcoming group and provides those moments. The fact that we make friends becomes much easier and becomes even more important, because through that I met Glaucia. It's very special that Xequi has brought the two of us together", he says. "I took a Muay Thai class for the first time, a tennis class, pole dancing. There is often volleyball and several other activities. These are things that, if it were up to each person to pursue it alone, probably wouldn't happen", adds Luane. "Through Xequi I met Glaucia and something that started without much pretension ended up becoming a relationship. I think it's very special. I think it's cool that Xequi brought the two of us together." She also highlights the affinities discovered throughout our time together: "It was really cool to realize that we have a lot of things in common. We get along really well, we combine a lot of things, from life goals to personality and what we hope for the future", she says. The agenda, organized monthly, includes a variety of activities, such as workshops and sports practices. The initiative's proposal is to offer a comfortable space for women and people from the LGBTQIAPN+ community to have fun and build new friendships around the city. Xequi's rules To maintain the social focus of the project, the creator of Xequi Club, Paula Amorim, and the hosts created a list of rules for the participants. Additionally, there is a monthly fee for those who wish to participate in the entire agenda. See the rules and conditions below: It is prohibited to disclose other 'roles' in Xequi's group. Only officers can be branded; It is prohibited to use Xequi's name to close partnerships, obtain benefits or represent the community. Only hostesses can do this; It is allowed to promote your work, recommend professionals and sell something specific in the group. If the focus is just sales, the participant will be removed; Before creating parallel groups and sharing among the divas, you need to talk to the administrators; It is prohibited to publicize events on the same day as official Xequi meetings; Prejudice, invasiveness or any situation of discomfort with two or more reports results in expulsion from the group and events; Anyone who does not participate in any official tour within six months will be removed from the group.
