The mother of Theo Soares Fernandes da Mota, who was run over by a bus in Complexo do Alemão, mourned her son's death in a post on social media.
The 9-year-old boy died on Thursday afternoon (11) after being hit by a car on Estrada do Itararé, in the North Zone of Rio, as he was heading to a sporting activity.
"My little puppy, forgive me, but I can't describe the love I feel and have always felt for you. The pain of your departure will never diminish the giant love I feel. Thank you for teaching me what true love is during the nine most beautiful years of my life", he wrote.
Theo would have turned 10 next Wednesday (17). According to family members, the boy was passionate about football and participated in sporting activities at Vila Olímpica Carlos Castilho, in Complexo do Alemão.

"My son was a beloved child, loved by everyone. At school, at home, at church. He was very happy, cheerful, playful. His life was about playing. He loved football, did judo and swimming. He was a child like any other", said his father, Paulo Sérgio Cunha Mota.
According to relatives, Theo was on his way to another sporting activity when the accident occurred. He was on an electric bike with his grandfather and had just gotten off when he was hit by a bus on line 485 (Duque de Caxias x Pilares).
"He stopped for the boy to disembark. It seems that, at the time he was trying to get off, the crash happened. We still don't know exactly how it happened", said the child's uncle, Lindomar Soares.
Theo was rescued and taken to the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) in Alemão. According to the Municipal Health Department, the unit's coordinator reported that the boy arrived at the scene without life.
After the accident, family members of the victim and the bus driver gave statements at the 22nd DP (Penha). The driver underwent a blood alcohol test, which yielded a negative result.
In a statement, Transportes Fabio’s regretted the accident and informed that it is cooperating with the investigations carried out by the authorities.
