The World Cup atmosphere inspired the social project Na Favela Turismo to create a themed route that will take visitors from Rocinha and Vidigal, in Rio de Janeiro, to places in the communities where the ball swings the net. At the end of the tour, tourists will still be able to watch Brazil's games in the community.  The initiative, called Copa na Favela, starts next Saturday (13) and is run by social entrepreneur Renan Monteiro. The objective is to promote social integration and income generation from tourism. Related news: Course trains tourist guides in the favelas of Rocinha and Vidigal. The project has already received more than 40 thousand visitors in one month and hopes to have its best result in August, when the Northern Hemisphere will be on summer vacation.  “Within this route, the tourist who buys the tour will take a tour of the communities with a local guide, visit sports spots, the football courts of Rocinha and Vidigal, and will also watch a cultural presentation of the Acorda Capoeira project”, said Renan Monteiro to Agência Brasil. In addition, tourists will have an “altinha” class, a typical leisure activity in Rio de Janeiro that emerged in the 1950s and 1960s. Common on the city's beaches, the collective game consists of keeping the ball in the air without using your hands, using only parts of the body, such as feet, legs, chest, head and shoulder. Those who wish can also take part in a “naked party” at Castelinho, in the town of Paula Brito, in Rocinha. At the football match, visitors will have the opportunity to socialize and take photos with Josiel Dalto dos Santos, a resident of the community and considered a lookalike of Brazilian national team player Vini Jr. At the end of the tour, there will be an event at Mirante da Rocinha, with a samba circle and a big screen to broadcast the Brazilian games. The country's three games in the first phase are scheduled for June 13, 24 and 29. “This tour will take place every day that there is a Brazil game”, informed Monteiro. Celebration If Brazil advances in the world tournament, the Cup in Favela will be guaranteed to continue, said Renan Monteiro. “At the end of the tour, the idea is to have a celebration, an exchange between tourists and the community, in a big event.” The social entrepreneur considers that, when tourists and residents share experiences, special connections and new opportunities are created for the community. “Sport and culture have the power to bring people together and promote social inclusion,” he stated. Most of the tourists served by the project come from Latin America, including Argentines, Chileans and Colombians, in addition to many national visitors. Then appear Americans, French and Italians.  “But people come from all over the world”, he clarified.
