Thief is killed while trying to rob police officers in Vista Alegre A thief was killed when trying to rob plainclothes police officers in Vista Alegre, in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, last Wednesday afternoon (10). A camera recorded the agents' approach and reaction (see above). The pair were having lunch at a restaurant on the corner of São Félix and Meriti avenues when Luiz Henrique de Mattos Magalhães arrived from behind and announced the robbery. The bandit had a revolver and began searching one of the police officers. The other, however, quickly got up, took out his gun and shot at Luiz, who fell to the ground and ended up surrendering. Luiz was hospitalized, but did not survive. Two accomplices who were providing cover are wanted. The Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC) was called and is investigating the circumstances of the case.
