In this investigation, 7 people linked to a garbage collection company were subject to arrest warrants. One of them reportedly commented in the prison where she is staying about the alleged attack plan against the judge. The detainee's name was not released.
The information came to the attention of the Court's Institutional Intelligence and Security Unit (NIS), which opened an investigation into the case and reinforced the judge's security. The prisoner reportedly spoke about the alleged attack as a form of retaliation for the judge's decision that authorized the arrests.
In Santa Catarina, 30 mayors have been arrested since 2020 in different operations, but most are related to Operation Mensageiro, which investigates a criminal scheme in the waste collection and disposal sector in several cities. Currently, all mayors arrested in the operation are free.
