Collective wedding in São João de Campina Grande Emanuel Tadeu/PMCG It takes place this Friday (12), Valentine's Day and Saint Anthony's Eve, another edition of the Collective Wedding of São João de Campina Grande, in Agreste da Paraíba. The ceremony will celebrate the union of 96 couples at the Parque do Povo Pyramid. The Collective Wedding is one of the most traditional events on the June calendar in Campina Grande. The event has taken place annually since 1999, on the night of June 12th. It is an action that unites culture, citizenship, social inclusion and affection. Over the years, it has become an emotional heritage of the city and one of the most awaited moments in the program, because it celebrates love stories and strengthens family ties within one of the biggest cultural events in the country", stated the Secretary of Culture of Campina Grande, Anny Karenine. The couples went through several stages of preparation before arriving at the big day. Brides receive special and free beauty care until the ceremony. The bride and groom must meet at the Cultural Center and continue in procession to the wedding at the pyramid, scheduled to start at around 7pm.
