Love doesn't always follow a script. Sometimes it appears in unexpected places and in the hands of those you least imagine. On this Valentine's Day, g1 tells the story of journalist Vivia Lima, aged 34, and financial educator Marcus Gasparetti Lazzarini, aged 57. The couple, from Juiz de Fora, in Zona da Mata, had a very special "cupid": Vívia's mother.
The journalist says she never had a profile on dating apps out of fear, but the story changed when her mother, Claudia Andréia de Lima Dias, tried to create an account for herself and ended up finding Marcus' profile.

Upon seeing the photo of the financial educator, Claudia made an immediate connection with her daughter's taste.
"My mother took a screenshot of his name and photo to see if I would like it. I always thought older men were prettier. When she showed it to me, I thought: 'Mom, he's really handsome'."

Coincidences on the streets and social media
The real beginning of the romance took a long time to happen. The first "encounter" was visual. Vívia says that one day, while walking through the center of Juiz de Fora, she recognized the man in the photo on the street.
"I thought: 'My God, that's the guy my mother found!'. I ran to her and said: 'Mom, he exists, he's very handsome'. I was shaking and she just laughed," he said.
About a year later, another coincidence brought the two together. Vivia saw Marcus's name on the Juiz de Fora City Hall website. He was responsible for a financial education course in which she was trying to get a place. Having decided, she added him on a social network to follow the registrations.
The connection was immediate. "The day I added him, he came to welcome me. That very day I fell asleep in love", he recalled.
The first meeting
Marcus asked her out, but it took the journalist around 15 days to accept the invitation. Even though she knew he "was real", she was cautious on their first meeting.
"I did a whole security scheme. I called a friend and my mother to stay at my house and I even informed someone I knew of the police", he said with a laugh.
The 23-year age difference between the two has never been an obstacle for the couple.
"In the beginning, there were some looks and comments, but we had no idea. What matters is what we build within our relationship", said Marcus.

The marriage proposal took place on June 13, 2024, Saint Anthony's Day, the matchmaking saint and patron saint of Juiz de Fora. The ceremony was celebrated in September 2025, with an affectionate detail: the mass was led by the bride's brother, who is a priest.
About to celebrate their Paper Wedding, the couple is already planning their next steps. "We have a very happy marriage and we want to have children", projected Vivia.
Today, the dynamics of how they met has become a favorite story among family and friends.
"We laugh a lot about it. When people ask, they are always surprised. Many people joke by saying: 'I'll ask your mother to find me a husband too'", concludes the journalist.
