For Beatriz Arcoverde, manager of Radioagência Nacional and editor of the podcast, the award recognizes work that is aimed at children, in a tool that has a history of themes linked to environmental preservation, education and also indigenous issues.

Radioagência is a finalist in the Dom Phillips and Bruno Pereira competition.
"We talk, in this series, about the various indigenous languages, about how to teach, how education can work with this in children's languages, in teaching materials. We also talk about initiatives by young indigenous people; about the heirs of Chico Mendes, who are working to defend the Amazon. So, this award is important to show that working with the environment, working with indigenous peoples, with traditional communities, with human rights, is giving an opportunity to learn about what is happening in the country. And giving an opportunity, mainly, in simple language, to children know”, he believes.
In accessible language aimed at children, the production explores the importance of the Amazon as a regulator of the global climate, highlighting the climate crisis that already directly impacts the region, in addition to issues that were highlighted during the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), which was held in Belém (PA) last year.

The podcast is based on the series Trilhas Amazônicas, by journalist Rafael Cardoso and photojournalist Tânia Rêgo. The work was first adapted as a podcast, in the series also called Trilhas Amazônicas, with seven episodes, and then adapted for the children's label of Radioagência Nacional.
Script, presentation and editing are by Akemi Nitahara, edited by Beatriz Arcoverde and participation, in the presentation, by Maria Eduarda Arcoverde, aged 10; and Caetano Farias, 12 years old.
The two small presenters received the trophy, at the ceremony held this Thursday (11), at the Itamaraty Palace, in Brasília.
Honorable Mention
Also present, the photojournalist from Agência Brasil, Tânia Rêgo, received an honorable mention for the set of images in the report. Areas of Guarani recovery in MS face difficulties and violence. She highlights the importance of public communication when reporting on indigenous peoples and their communities.
"The photos are from a Retomada Guapo'y Mirin Tujury, which is in Mato Grosso do Sul. When we got there, they had suffered a massacre in which an indigenous person had been killed and two minors had been shot. The body of this indigenous person was there, and they wanted to remove the body to do an autopsy and the indigenous people didn't want to and were even afraid that the body would disappear. So, we got there at the moment they got together and were deciding what they were going to do. It was a tense and tense moment. great importance”, recalls the photojournalist.
Very moved by the honorable mention, Tânia states that, although photography is an individual act, it is also surrounded by a team. And, for her, reporting and defending indigenous communities and traditional peoples means reporting on the environment.

“The indigenous people of the retakes are people who suffer all types of violence, all the time. So, this type of physical violence, killing, daily psychological violence, violence from the military police, from farmers. From all sides. And they really are warriors and need to be made visible”, he concludes.
The president of Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC), Antonia Pellegrino, was at the awards ceremony in the Audiovisual Reporting category for protecting the environment, indigenous peoples or audiovisual communities.
