Disclosure
Access to culture in Brazil is still marked by regional and structural inequalities. It is in this context that the “Festival da Gente” project arrives in Rio das Ostras (RJ), this weekend, June 13th and 14th, bringing dance, music and regional gastronomy to expand access to cultural activities and strengthen local artistic production.
Carried out through the Culture Incentive Law, the “Festival da Gente” project is produced by Sancell, supported by Komedi Projetos, Vida Flats, Prefeitura Municipal de Rio das Ostras and Fundação Rio das Ostras de Cultura, sponsored by NOV and is carried out by the Ministry of Culture and Government of Brazil - On the side of the Brazilian people.
The festival proposes an accessible and diverse cultural occupation, bringing together dance performances that revive regional traditions and expressions, shows by Remy and Sandro Martins (13/06), DJs Lipe Cardillo (13/06), Erica Carvalho (14/6) and Felipe Santô (14/06). The dance group Cia Macaé Dance performs on both days of the festival (see the full program below).
In addition to lots of music and dancing, the public will also be able to enjoy a gastronomic fair with typical dishes from the region.
The initiative will also feature interactive gastronomy workshops aimed at children, led by regional chefs. The proposal is to encourage learning, contact with traditional flavors and the appreciation of food culture from childhood.
Selection game
On Saturday, the 13th, the program will also include the broadcast of the Brazilian team's game, expanding the public's collective experience. More than offering entertainment, the project focuses on culture as a tool for formation and belonging.
The project speaks to the need to decentralize access to cultural experiences in the country. Data from IBGE's Cultural Information and Indicators System (SIIC) highlights this scenario, as only 29.6% of Brazilian municipalities have museums, while theaters and concert halls are present in 23.3% of cities, and cinemas in just 9%. As a consequence, 31.4% of the population lives in places without museums, 30.6% without theaters and 42.5% without access to cinemas.
Inequality worsens with distance. In 14.9% of municipalities without cultural facilities, the journey to the nearest city with this type of space exceeds one hour. By occupying these territories, the “Festival da Gente” contributes to creating an audience and strengthening the local creative economy.
The event also prioritizes inclusion and accessibility, with a structure adapted for people with disabilities, the presence of Libras interpreters, audio description and accessible materials, ensuring broad and diverse public participation.
The initiative aims to cultivate a meeting space between culture, territory and community, promoting access, valuing regional identity and encouraging artistic production in different regions of the country.
"Our efforts are focused on creating environments that encourage personal and community development through education and culture. We believe in the transformative potential of these areas to promote significant changes in people's lives, offering access to tools and activities that stimulate creativity, learning and individual expression. We are committed to opening new paths and opportunities, strengthening the future of the next generations." Cristiano Netto, HR Director Latin America at NOV. SERVICE:
