‘Filthy black woman’ and ‘disgusting fagot’: former directors become defendants for racism and homophobia The Goiás Court accepted the Public Ministry's complaint against the former director and former coordinator of Colégio Estadual Almirante Tamandaré, in Valparaíso de Goiás, on the outskirts of the Federal District. The two became defendants for crimes allegedly committed against school employees. The decision was made by judge Gustavo Costa Borges, from the 2nd Criminal Court of Valparaíso de Goiás, and was signed on June 8th. In the document, the judge states that the complaint presented by the Public Prosecutor's Office describes typical criminal conduct and meets the legal requirements for opening criminal proceedings. Priscilla also stated that she hopes that witnesses, camera images and other elements will be analyzed by the courts during the process. g1 was unable to locate the defense of former coordinator Benício Ribeiro Júnior until the last update of the report. Victims' defense says they expect conviction of the defendants at the end of the process The victims' lawyer, Suenilson Saulnier, stated that he received the decision calmly. “We calmly and naturally received the acceptance of the complaint, hoping that after due legal process, if the defendants' guilt is proven, they will be sentenced to the maximum penalties provided,” he declared. According to the decision, the former director and former coordinator have not yet presented a defense. The judge ordered that both be summoned to respond to the accusation within 10 days and established that, if they do not have a lawyer, the Public Defender's Office must act in the defense of the accused. At the time, victims reported to the Civil Police that they had been called “filthy black woman”, “disgusting black woman” and “disgusting fagot”. According to the complaints, the episodes would have occurred within the work environment and in the presence of other employees. The investigation also highlighted alleged practices of moral harassment and humiliation against school employees. One of the reports indicated that a server had been unfairly accused of theft. Another victim claimed to have been embarrassed by the manager during work hours. According to the Civil Police, at least four employees reported the events, including cleaning staff, a teacher and a former coordinator of the school unit. Court authorized police request during investigation In a decision from November 2023, judge Gustavo Costa Borges had already authorized the Civil Police's request for the State Department of Education to send documents related to the administrative procedure opened against those being investigated. At the time, the Civil Police reported that they were investigating crimes of insult, defamation and racial discrimination allegedly committed against school employees. To g1, the State Department of Education informed that the two employees have already been dismissed from the state network.
