Chicken farm owner arrested for environmental pollution in Campina Grande Civil Police A businesswoman who owns a farm in Campina Grande, in Agreste da Paraíba, was arrested for the crime of environmental pollution, this Thursday (11). Civil police officers and experts discovered the irregular disposal of liquid waste from the company's activities, which were being released directly into the environment. The material flowed to neighboring properties, forming flooded areas and reaching roads, land in the region and a nearby watercourse, causing a significant environmental impact. The name of the company was not disclosed. The Civil Police also identified remains of dead birds discarded inappropriately, in violation of current environmental standards. The Superintendence of Environmental Administration (Sudema) was also present at the inspection. Part of the waste found at the site was collected for analysis in the laboratory to prepare an expert report. After the owner's arrest, she was taken to the police station, where she paid R$10,000 in bail and was released to remain free. The company continues to be investigated by the Campina Grande Specialized Environmental Police Station. The expectation is that the police investigation should be concluded in the next few days.
