FIDE announced the suspension of membership of the Russian Chess Federation for three years. The reason was the failure to comply with the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which back in March demanded that any core activities in the LPR, DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, as well as in Crimea and Sevastopol be stopped within 90 days. Thus, the participation of domestic grandmasters in team tournaments of an international organization - and primarily in the World Chess Olympiad - is again in question.
