The highlands of South Kivu are once again the scene of intense fighting. On June 8, the AFC/M23-Twirwaneho coalition captured three localities in the territories of Fizi and Mwenga. The Armed Forces of the DRC say they have recaptured them since June 10, after 48 hours of counter-offensive. Drones were used by both sides, causing civilian casualties. Both camps blame each other. What is at stake here goes beyond simple military comings and goings: it is the control of strategic points at the gates of Minembwe.
