'He was very controlling', says daughter of femicide victim in DF
The Brasília Jury Court sentenced, this Wednesday (10), Janilson Quadros de Almeida to 39 years, nine months and 22 days in prison for homicide qualified by feminicide. The sentence must be served under an initial closed regime.
The man was accused of stabbing his ex-partner to death in a condominium in Jardim Botânico, in the Federal District. The crime took place in May 2024 (see details below).
The victim, Daniella De Lorena Pelaes, 46 years old, was a Telebras employee. According to investigations, after the crime, Janilson Quadros de Almeida, aged 37, tried to take his own life.
The judge responsible for the case highlighted that the crime was aggravated by the defendant's behavior. According to the sentence, Janilson demonstrated jealous, possessive and controlling attitudes and did not accept the end of the relationship, which increased the severity of the conduct.
The decision also highlighted the impact of the crime on the victim's family. Daniella left behind three children, as well as parents and other family members. For the magistrate, the consequences go beyond death, to the suffering caused to relatives.
In addition to prison, the defendant was ordered to pay a minimum compensation of R$50,000. He will not be able to appeal freely.
Daniella's daughter was 17 years old at the time and witnessed the crime, along with her brothers, who were also minors. She remembers what the man's behavior was like (see video above).
"He was very controlling. It seemed like he cared too much at first. Then, it started to get very intense. He wanted to control who she talked to, how she talked, who she went out with, what music she listened to," said Gabriella Pelaes.
The report was unable to contact Janilson Quadros de Almeida's defense.

Personal file
Daniella had three children, all minors at the time. According to the PCDF, she had been separated from her attacker for more than a year, when she and her children moved from Amapá to Brasília. This change, according to investigations, was already motivated by aggressive behavior on the part of his ex-partner.
Two months before the crime, the victim and her children were already under protective measures against the suspect, who could not contact them through any means of communication and had to maintain a distance of at least 300 meters from the victim.
But at the beginning of May, the month of the crime, Daniella withdrew the request for a protective measure because the attacker said he had changed and wanted to visit his 3-year-old son more often.
According to investigations, Janilson sent a message to Daniella asking to see her son, around 5am. She refused, because of the time, and the man went to the condominium, went through the gate normally, as he had resident access, and broke into the house.
After the feminicide, the man also tried to kill himself with a knife, according to the police. He was rescued by Samu and arrested in the act at Hospital de Base.
