A study published Wednesday in the scientific journal Nature reports the discovery of the largest known whale cemetery in the world with nearly 500 skeletons spread across a 1,200-kilometer-long corridor in Western Australia. Scientists believe whales died in such large numbers in this area because it is an important feeding ground.
