The first stage of the operation began in the last week of May, when Correios drivers collected 68 vehicles from assembly plants located in Lauro de Freitas (BA), São Mateus (ES) and Sorocaba (SP). The vehicles were taken to the USP Hospital das Clínicas, in Ribeirão Preto (SP), before heading to their final destinations.
Distribution mobilizes the national logistics structure of Correios, responsible for coordinating routes and deliveries simultaneously in different regions of the country. The operation is considered strategic to ensure that vehicles reach the benefiting municipalities, including in remote locations.
With the arrival of new vehicles, the expectation is to increase the population's access to health services, reduce difficulties in traveling to consultations and treatments and strengthen the service provided by the SUS.
The PAC Saúde is part of the New Growth Acceleration Program (New PAC) and brings together investments aimed at modernizing and expanding public health infrastructure. Among the planned actions are the acquisition of vehicles and equipment, in addition to expanding the service network throughout the country.
