Augusto Montenegro, in Belém, give statements A survivor of the collision that left four people dead on Avenida Augusto Montenegro, in Belém, told the Civil Police about the tense moments she experienced in the early hours of May 29th. Football referee and physical educator Renata Fitel said that, after being hit by the car driven by Pablo Henrique Farias da Silva, she was also the target of verbal attacks from fans who were at the scene. Renata and the app driver who was driving the motorcycle gave statements this Wednesday (10) at the Civil Police Homicide Division. The two survived the collision that occurred at kilometer 7 of the avenue, during a confusion between organized fans from Remo and Paysandu, after a football match. Renata said she was heading home after a game at a club when she encountered the confrontation at Augusto Montenegro. “When we arrived there in the middle of Augusto Montenegro, in front of Sevilha, we were already faced with this confrontation”, he reported. She said she only survived without even more serious injuries because she was wearing a helmet. Renata was hospitalized for 10 days, underwent two surgeries and is still not expected to be discharged. She suffered a deep injury to her knee, which became infected after the accident, and continues to have difficulty walking. The app driver is also recovering from a broken heel and still wears orthopedic boots. The case had repercussions because, in addition to the two survivors interviewed now, five other victims were also affected. Four of them died: Jhonata Mateus Maciel Chaves, Davi Souza Conceição, Helder Martins Santos and Luan Garcia Batista. The Civil Police concluded the investigation and charged the driver with qualified intentional homicide, with a request for preventive detention. He remains in prison and in custody. The accused's defense had claimed, at the time of the crime, that he was trying to escape from another crowd. The police, however, closed the investigation with the understanding that there was a deliberate run over. The Penitentiary Administration Secretariat reported that the person being investigated remains in custody at the disposal of the Justice Department. On May 31, the Court of Justice of Pará (TJPA) granted provisional release to the driver upon payment of bail in the amount of R$81,050.00. The release permit must be issued after collecting the bond of 50 minimum wages. The court also ordered the suspension of the driver's license and precautionary measures.
