A 20 meter long steel bridge disappeared in Prados, in the Central Region of Minas Gerais, and was located this Tuesday morning (9) in Lima Duarte, around 180 kilometers away, in the region of Ibitipoca, in the Zona da Mata of Minas Gerais.
The structure belongs to the old Ferrovia Oeste de Minas and was deactivated. According to Prados City Hall, the bridge came from England and has great historical value for the city.
The structure was located in the region known as “58”, close to BR-265. Despite being off the vehicle route, it was used by cyclists and motorcyclists.
The bridge had been seen at the location last Thursday (4). On Monday (8), anyone who passed by the region noticed that it was no longer there.
Heavy vehicle brands
The Military Police and Prados City Hall were at the scene to assess the case. Marks of heavy vehicles were identified, which may have been used in the action.
Marks of backhoe use were also found. The metal structure is large and heavy, and was located in a difficult to access location.
Bridge seen on top of truck
This Tuesday morning, residents reported that the bridge had been seen on top of a truck in Lima Duarte, in the Ibitipoca region.
Prados City Hall reported that it is evaluating how it will transport people back to the city.
Prados' chief of staff, Luís Belo, said that the suspicion is that the bridge was taken by a collector. He also stated that, when the structure returns, there will be celebrations in the region.
