Trucks caught fire after collision on BR-251 Assembly/g1 A tanker trailer loaded with fuel crashed into the back of another trailer carrying corn and both vehicles caught fire on BR-251, in Unaí, in the Northwest of Minas. The 48-year-old driver of the tanker truck was burned to death. The accident was recorded at km 922, this Tuesday (9). The driver of the hit truck was not injured and told the police that he had stopped on the side of the road after experiencing mechanical problems and marked the area with branches. Then, upon returning to the vehicle, he felt an impact in the rear. When he got out, he realized that the tanker had hit his truck and that both were on fire. After partially controlling the flames, the military discovered that there was a charred body inside the tanker. According to the PM, there was a fuel leak on the road, which reached a channel on the side of the highway and spread across the ground and vegetation. It was not possible to verify whether the product reached any watercourse. Teams from the Environmental Emergency Center (NEA), the Municipal Environment Secretariat and the Military Environmental Police were called to assess the environmental damage at the site.
