At the World Cup, Brazil will discover a new way of watching television: DTV+.
The revolution begins as soon as the ball rolls. The 2026 World Cup marks the official beginning of a new phase of Brazilian television, much more technological.
"TV 3.0 is the union of over-the-air transmission, radio broadcasting, with access to the internet. For the population, the immediate gain is to have richer, more immersive content adapted to their preferences. It is a TV for Brazilians and made by Brazilians", says Marcelo Moreno, advisor to the SBTVD Forum and UFJF professor.

DTV+ is a higher quality image, in 4K, and immersive sound. You are in control to watch the newspaper, soap operas and football in a new way.
"With this interactivity, you will be watching the game and, using the remote control, you can participate in a poll, as an expert in the game. You can see the statistics of that game, you can follow what's out there in the next rounds, when Brazil's next game is", says Leonora Bardini, executive director of Canal TV Globo.

Change is coming little by little. For now, DTV+ is in the experimental phase in Rio, São Paulo and Brasília. And, to access the new feature, you need to have a kit with a converter, antenna and remote control.
"For broadcasting, this is another step for us to offer an even higher quality service to our audience. So, if in the past we migrated from analogue to digital, now we migrate from digital to TV 3.0", says Antonia Pellegrino, president of EBC.
A marriage between open and free TV, which you know, with the thousand possibilities that the internet offers.
"Today, one of the greatest forms of entertainment for the Brazilian population is open TV, and it is worth highlighting that this technology will work in parallel with current technology, with digital TV, but that additional services will be available to the population through connectivity and internet access", explains Frederico de Siqueira Filho, Minister of Communications.
A new service that affects viewers, broadcasters, advertisers and the technology industry. Even before it starts, this World Cup is already making history.
"The experience of watching TV is something that the public wants. Not only to be moved, to have fun, but they want to participate in the content. We are talking about watching open television in which you have content that knows who you are, that is more personalized, that gives you the opportunity to interact and seek an even more personal television experience", says Leonora Bardini.
