The ceremony marked the official launch of works on the plant, which will have more than 1.2 gigawatts of capacity and should begin operating in the first half of 2029. The plant project was selected in the capacity auction held by the Federal Government in March this year and should involve investments of R$5.5 billion. Within the complex, the Port of Pecém and the Export Processing Zone (ZPE) are located - an area focused on industry and exports, with tax incentives and differentiated regulations to attract companies. Pier Zero will be used to facilitate the transportation of natural gas to the plant and support the operation of the thermal plant. The pier structure will allow the port to receive a floating regasification unit (FSRU), responsible for converting liquefied natural gas into gas, enabling supply to the plant and other consumers. The expectation is that work on the complex, which began in the first half of 2026, will create around 2,000 direct and indirect jobs. Pier Zero is expected to come into operation in 2028, while the plant should have its work completed and begin testing in the first half of 2029. Watch the most viewed videos from Ceará:
