The Director General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, on Monday June 8, 2026 in Kampala praised Uganda's management of the Ebola epidemic which spread from the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo. While the DRC already has more than 500 confirmed cases, Uganda has so far limited transmission to 19 cases and two deaths.
