One of the boys hit had bruises. The other, who is 8 years old, had serious injuries, was initially rescued by a doctor who was passing by the scene, treated by the Integrated Emergency Trauma Care Service (Siate) and taken to hospital.
According to the family, the boy broke his arm, hit his head and suffered lung injuries. He underwent surgery this Monday (8) and is recovering in the hospital.
"The street here is very quiet. The neighbors are all friends and the children are always playing. They say: 'It's dangerous for children to be on the street', but there is a lot of security here. We never imagined that the car would go up at high speed, go the wrong way and catch the children. We just want justice", said Michely Sieiro, aunt of the boy who was seriously injured.
Security cameras positioned in other parts of the neighborhood recorded the driver traveling at high speed.
This Monday, family members of the victims registered a police report at the Traffic Crimes Police Station (Dedetran).
"The police investigation was duly launched to investigate the circumstances of the accident, initially for the crime of bodily injury, due to an increase due to the failure to provide assistance and also for the crime of moving away from the scene of the accident to escape criminal liability", detailed the police chief, Edgar Santana.
According to the delegate, people who have information about the identity and location of the driver can report it anonymously by calling 181.
