The ego battle between Dassault and Airbus led to the end of the European fighter jet project. Emmanuel Macron and his German counterpart Friedrich Merz regretted “the impossibility for industrialists to agree on the continuation of this project” initiated in 2017 which was to allow Europe to acquire sixth generation combat aircraft.
