Bunia, capital of Ituri province in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, remains the epicenter of the Ebola epidemic. According to the latest available figures, 488 confirmed cases have been recorded and 98 people have lost their lives. It is in this context that the European Union Commissioner responsible for humanitarian aid made a field visit to Bunia in order to assess the situation.
