The complaint indicates that, to hide the crime, he set fire to the young woman's body and the family's residence. According to police chief Silneyr Deófanes de Castro, a few hours after the crime, Ivano went to a local TV station to present himself, where he was arrested by the Civil Police team. May 2011: conviction and attempted escape Ivano was sentenced by the District of Araguaína to 35 years in prison under a closed regime for the crimes of rape, qualified homicide and fire, relating to the 2009 case. The sentence was upheld by the Tocantins Court of Justice. In the same year of his conviction, Ivano tried to escape from the prison unit where he was serving his sentence. December 2018: remission of sentence In October 2018, the Tocantins Court of Justice (TJTO) granted the first request for remission of the sentence for days worked. Ivano had the right to reduce part of the sentence through work, which determined the partial settlement of the sentence. In December of the same year, the TJTO granted a remission of 170 days of the convict's total sentence. June 26, 2023: Electronic monitoring Ivano was able to progress to the semi-open regime after serving during his period in the prison unit, serving part of his 35-year sentence in a closed regime. According to the criminal enforcement process, the electronic monitoring equipment was only installed in 2023. December 2025: sentence for the 2007 crime The Tocantins Court sentenced Ivano to two years and eight months of open detention for the crime of manslaughter while driving a motor vehicle. The sentence, handed down in December 2025, refers to the run-over that occurred in 2007, in Araguaína. In addition to the prison sentence, the magistrate ordered the suspension of his driving license for a period of eight months. According to the document, Ivano even requested the return of his National Driving License (CNH), claiming that the document was essential for the exercise of his professional activity; however, the request was denied by the Court. The judge considered the reasons for increasing the sentence, as the collision occurred during the exercise of the profession and was followed by failure to provide assistance. June 2026: explosion and death in the Lago Azul I sector According to reports from witnesses to the Military Police, around 5pm on June 3, neighbors heard a loud explosion coming from inside a residence. At that moment, the fire started and caused the death of Ivano and his stepdaughter, Laiane Cardoso Noleto, aged 19. The Fire Department reported that the team found the two charred bodies inside one of the rooms of the property. Laiane was located under a wardrobe, while Ivano was on the remains of a bed that was destroyed by flames. The Military Police reported that the bodies were found without clothing on the lower part of the body. According to technical expertise, a gallon with traces of gasoline was seized inside the residence. The object reinforces the police's suspicion that the fire was set intentionally, especially after witnesses reported hearing an explosion shortly before the flames took over the room. The material was collected for analysis in the criminalistics laboratory. According to the Civil Police, the case is investigated by the Homicide and Personal Protection Department (DHPP), which is investigating the similarity of the June 2026 crime with the crime committed by Ivano in 2009.
