Traditional gifts
A national survey carried out by the São Paulo Commercial Association (ACSP) in partnership with PiniOn shows that clothes, footwear and accessories lead purchasing intentions for Valentine's Day, with 35.3% of citations.
Next come chocolates and bonbons (28.5%), perfumes (26.9%) and meals in restaurants (24.9%).
The survey also shows that the majority of consumers intend to make purchases in person. Around 56% of respondents stated that they should look for physical stores to choose gifts.
However, e-commerce is also expected to see an increase in sales. According to the Brazilian Association of Artificial Intelligence and E-commerce (Abiacom), the sector's revenue during Valentine's Day is expected to exceed R$10 billion in 2026.
The projection is for growth of 10.82% compared to last year, driven by the increase in the number of orders placed online.
Even with the expansion of online shopping, consumers' preference for the in-person experience continues to favor traditional commerce during this period, considered one of the most important on the retail calendar.

World Cup
According to ACSP research, the proximity of the 2026 World Cup could contribute to boosting trade during this period. More than half of those interviewed (55.8%) believe that the tournament should stimulate shopping for Valentine's Day.
Among the products related to the World Cup are national team t-shirts, caps, balls, flags and other sporting items, which together account for 46.3% of purchasing intentions indicated by consumers.
Despite this, 57.5% of those interviewed stated that the World Cup should not change the value allocated to gifts, indicating that the event can increase trade movement without necessarily increasing individual spending.
